SAME CLIENT, SAME ARCHITECT, RENEWED URBAN QUALITIES
This first shopping center of Turkey in a modern concept houses 138 shops. The complex is comprised of a building block with 5 storey having an atrium in the middle, a long building block with 3 storey opening to that, a big shop of 5 storey at the end of the long block and a large entertainment center containing 3 and 4 storey buildings. Pedestrian entrances, that are provided at the level of the coastal road lead to the atrium and the main galleries. The multi floor autopark that is located in the south of the complex is accesses from one floor below through moving stairways and stairs. All shops are located in an optical integrity, with natural illumination around the atrium on 2 stories. Visitors are able to locate all shops in a spatial integrity. The service aisles those are located longitudinally at the rear of shops lead to cargo lifts and loading-discharging docks for deliveries and waste disposal. After 20 years, the second generation Tabanlıoğlu Architects realized the renovation project with the same client. As one of the big issues in urban life is to make the city interactive so that people become truly cosmopolitan, units are redesigned to repair the collectivity of space and to renew physical and social capacity of the facility aiming to rebuild the ceremonial and informal public spaces of our era.
