RE-BUILDING LIVING SPACES AND OPPORTUNITIES

İstanbul expanding towards every direction but the core stays the same, the first example of western municipal office of the city Beyoğlu, known as Pera, across the old city and overlooking the Golden Horn, has always been the center for social, cultural and artistic life of modern İstanbul. Until recently it was rundown and neglected despite its striking 19th century buildings. Now, it’s regaining its historic significance, especially after renovation of the office of Municipality; boutique hotels, novel restaurants and art galleries spilling towards Golden Horn. With regard to reconfiguration of the urban spaces, Beyoğlu Municipality desires to revitalize the plot, framed by their office at the upper end, aiming to gain a public space where citizens and visitors meet. Benefiting the slope, next to landscaped stripes, seats are gained for the flaneur and for the audience of events. Aiming to restore the urban fabric through creation of a well integrated meeting space, an effective infrastructure set ready to pop up for concerts, exhibitions or festivals. As the articulation of the urban space, the pool is situated at a location that reflects its surrounding and with a stunning view of the Golden Horn and Historic Peninsula history, where people gather around.
